Oak Hill School will have a gaggle of promotional events in the upcoming two months that I want to share with you. I encourage you to volunteer for these events, share any ideas you have with me about these events and encourage local families with school aged children to participate. Word of mouth is the best (and easiest) way you can help to promote Oak Hill School and is the number one way we obtain new students. Your participation is what makes these events so successful. Saturday Jan 23, 1-3 PM: OH Preview Day - Our annual open house and a very important day. This is a day where we invite prospective families to visit our campus and learn more about our programs. We do an initial welcome in the Gather Room with all of our faculty and staff and talk about our mission. Then parents are free to roam from classroom to classroom to meet the teachers and learn more details about the different programs and curriculum. We have student ambassadors available to give tours, current OH parents there to chat about their experiences and a coffee/tea bar to keep everybody warm! This is our best attended open house and the majority of attendees are encouraged to come by current OH families. Please encourage your friends to attend this event!

Fri - Sun Jan 22-24, 10 AM-7 PM: Good Earth Home and Garden Show - This is a new event we are doing this year at the Lane County Fairgrounds. An average of 70,000 people flow through this weekend event and we feel that this would be an exceptional way to raise awareness of Oak Hill School. We will have a booth at the event which needs to be staffed by parent volunteers and we will have several different programs that our students will be doing. Our Mandarin students, middle school choir and high school music students will be performing on various days and students supported by our Green Team will be giving a presentation on Earth Worms and the importance of composting. All of these are ways to highlight our programs, raise awareness and show off how fantastic our students are! I encourage all of you to attend this free event, have your students participate in the programs and volunteer at our booth.

Saturday Jan 30, 10 - 11 AM: Preschool Storytelling - This is a new event we are holding on OH campus that focuses on preschool families. Local preschools will be invited to our campus to hear stories from a professional storyteller. Our Kindergarten/1st grade class will be hosting this event in the Gather Room and we will serve hot cider and cookies. Again, word of mouth is the best way to get families up to our campus so please encourage families with young children to participate.

Saturday Jan 30, 1-3 PM: Alternative Education Fair - Oak Hill participates in this event each year. It is held in a wing of the Eugene Library and is a good way for parents who are interested in alternatives to the public school system to gather information. We shine at this event and is a way to get our name out into the community.

Sat-Sun Feb 20-21, 10 AM- 7 PM: Eugene Asian Celebration - One of our best events. We have our same booth as we did in years past, next to the stage and this venue gets a lot of foot traffic. We need parent volunteers to staff this booth and chat with Celebration participants about our Mandarin Chinese, French and Spanish programs. As far as we know, we are one of the only school that participates in this event, which gives us an edge! Our Mandarin students will be performing at this event on stage. I encourage you to bring your students to this event to help volunteer, to participate in the performance and to have a good time. This event is a parent favorite to volunteer in.
